Auditor finds gaps in county vehicle maintenance oversight at Internal Services Department
More than 100 county vehicles were overdue for maintenance in April 2026, some by over six months, the review found.
A county audit found the Internal Services Department does not document its review of repair estimates or track whether vehicles get preventative maintenance on time, raising risks of breakdowns and unnecessary repair costs. The Auditor-Controller made 10 recommendations; the department agreed, with fixes due between February 2027 and October 2027.
Auditor-Controller will assess the department's corrective actions in a follow-up review.
