Motion would pause homeless encampment cleanups during environmental emergencies

Councilmember Ysabel Jurado asks Sanitation to halt CARE+ sweeps and post cancellation notices when the city or state declares an emergency.

City Council· posted Jun 24Motion

Encampment cleanups would stop in areas under declared environmental emergencies, and unhoused residents would get cancellation notices, ideally at least 12 hours before a posted start time, plus alerts at cooling centers and on social media. Councilmember Ysabel Jurado introduced the motion, which also asks that Sanitation join emergency response activations.
