Motion seeks city plan to compost more green bin waste inside Los Angeles
LASAN would report back on using local sites, community composters and city parks instead of trucking compost to the Central Valley.
The city would study how to process and use more of its yard and food waste locally, rather than shipping finished compost to farms more than 100 miles away. Councilmember Adrin Nazarian's motion instructs LA Sanitation and Environment to report back with a master plan and to gather public input.
